Up2Reset / Time Out on Mac
Time Out requires macOS 26
The current Time Out release is Tahoe-only. If you are on Sequoia or Sonoma, the store listing will not install 3.x. That is a version floor, not a bug in your Mac.
What you are seeing
Typical searches and store copy:
- Time Out requires macOS 26.0 or later
- Time Out now requires a minimum of macOS Tahoe (26.0)
- Mac App Store: this Mac does not meet the system requirement
- After an update, the app will not open on Sequoia
Dejal’s own site says the latest is 3.1 and Requires macOS 26.0 or later. The Mac App Store listing says the same in What’s New. Direct download of 2.9.7 is still offered for macOS 10.15 or later: dejal.com/timeout.
Why it happens
Time Out 3 was rebuilt around Tahoe (Liquid Glass, new theme editor, modern icons). Apple lets a Mac App Store listing raise its minimum OS. When that happens, the product page on a Sequoia Mac simply refuses the install. It is not Gatekeeper, and it is not your Apple ID.
If you already paid for Time Out on the store, you still own 2.x on that Apple ID if you kept a local copy. The store will not hand you 3.x on an older OS. Direct 2.9.7 is the supported escape hatch Dejal publishes.
If you want to stay on Time Out
- Stay on Sequoia: download 2.9.7 from Dejal. Do not update to 3.1.
- Already on Tahoe: 3.1 from the site or the store is the current line.
- Direct vs store vs Setapp editions differ in sandbox and extras. Dejal documents that separately. The OS floor is the part that strands Sequoia users.
Time Out is a twenty-year Mac app. This page is not a eulogy. It is for people who googled the requirement string and still need a break overlay this week.
If you need a signed overlay on macOS 14.6–15
Up2Reset is a native Swift menu bar sit reminder. System requirement is macOS 14.6+, not 26.
- Full-screen overlay on every display. The job is stand up, not a 20-second eye rest.
- Mac App Store signed. No unidentified-developer prompt.
- Sleep and lock pause the timer. Pro adds keyboard/mouse idle so coming back from lunch does not immediately cover the screen.
- Skip postpones; it does not cancel the rest of the day.
- No account. No analytics SDK. Reports stay on the Mac.
Live listing name is still Up2Stretch (1.2.1). 1.3.0 is in review and renames it to Up2Reset. Same app, bundle id com.tool.Up2Stretch, Apple ID 6447865036.
Free overlay. Custom intervals and idle detection are Pro.
Came from Stretchly instead?
Unsigned Electron + a disabled Homebrew cask is a different failure: Stretchly cannot be opened on Mac.
